The Lord is good, and He is still on the move. Being able to see the goodness of the Lord, to know the power of prayer, and to understand what true faith looks like, is something I will always be enlivened by. I would never trade my experiences for anything as I would not be who I am today without them. Not only was the Lord able to reach others through each part of this story, but He also worked in me, changing my heart and mind to see Him even clearer through the obstacles. Looking back, I realize how thankful I am to have understood this point early in my cancer journey. By the end of the interview, I remember I had not only felt this peace, but also a sense of satisfaction and fulfillment. Through the struggles, the sickness, hair loss, and everything else, the Lord was to be glorified and His grace to be shared. Surely, I can say, by the end of that interview I had fully understood one of the most foundational lessons I had been taught all my life.Īs I listened to Lora’s questions, thought, and gave my response, I came to completely understand and know what it meant to glorify the Lord on a very personal level. This was the first time I, personally, had ever shared publicly about myself and what my experiences were. What makes that specific meeting, now, so close to my heart, is that this interview was the very first from the time I was diagnosed with cancer at age eight. Soon enough we started to converse and enjoyed each other’s company. ![]() About 12 years ago, I remember it like yesterday we met on the pediatric oncology floor in the hospital while Lora and her crew were broadcasting a “radiothon” in Brenner Children's Hospital to bring awareness about childhood cancer.Īs I was one of the patients on the floor at that time, they asked if we (my mother and I) would be willing to answer a few questions for an interview. I think it’s safe to say that Lora and I go way back. What a sweet memory! Always a joy to spend time sharing with Songster, Lora!
